Innosep proudly announces the completion of its first pilot-scale Membrane Distillation (MD) system — a symbolic milestone marking our step into the next era of membrane technology.
Membrane Distillation (MD) is an emerging thermal-driven separation process designed to treat high-salinity waters such as seawater, brackish water, and industrial wastewater. As global water shortages intensify and sustainability goals take center stage, the need for technologies that minimize water waste and enable recovery from challenging streams has never been more urgent.
This is the calling for MD — a next-generation technology that overcomes the limitations of conventional pressure-driven membranes like RO, NF, UF, and MF. MD provides a new path forward for water recovery, brine concentration, and resource reuse.
Our newly built pilot MD system, with a capacity of 150 liters per hour, may seem small in scale, yet it represents a major leap forward. The unit will be commissioned and deployed in Europe, where it will produce pure water and separate solvent from wastewater for an industrial manufacturer.
At Innosep, we believe that every drop counts. This pilot marks the beginning of a future where we can confidently say —
no single drop of water should be wasted.
